I have a '95 sedan and the hoods not painted and instead of painting it I'd rather have a carbon fiber hood. The only place I checked at was $450 plus tax for one. Also, thought about a carbon trunk too.

 

$400-450 is about on par for a new carbon fiber hood. You could look for a used one, but you might not have great luck there. Doing a quick Google search for 95 Accord Carbon Fiber Hood turned up a $403 hood by a company called Seibon, HD9497HDAC-OE. One website has it at that cost, and I assume that's pre-shipping.

 

I've found this shop to be high on stuff before. Said $450 plus tax for the hood and $80 for the tail lights.

 

Plans are to do the hood because I like it and need it painted anyways so it won't be much more to get a carbon hood. The tail lights are carbon but ones cracked. New to the site so wasn't sure if there was a sponsor here for this stuff.

 

$80 for aftermarket tails actually isn't bad if they're decent quality. And carbon fiber is expensive stuff, and shipping a car hood isn't cheap, so you might want to try locally if you can. You might find a place that can get you something cheaper than you will find online.

 

I know the owner if a stereo shop that has matched the price of several things I've got before. I don't see how he makes anything sometimes. I found a plain carbon hood for $399 last night with only looking a little bit. The tail lights who knows what brand at the $80 plus tax. I know I need tails first.

 

Like I said, $400-450 is about average. I have a friend who managed to find a carbon fiber hood for his 240SX for $200 but that was because a local shop was closing up and had a massive blowout sale. In my opinion $300 would be a good price, anything significantly under $400 may or may not be that easy to find depending on your car and location.

Are you talking about stock tail lights? For those I wouldn't pay over $50. If you mean aftermarket, be prepared to spend $50-150 for them depending on what you want and where you intend to get them.

The stereo shop owner is probably losing a bit of money by matching your prices, but usually that results in you coming back next time you need something at full price. I do this a lot at my job. Keep the initial order down by paying the freight, make less profit but you make a customer in the process and you'll make money down the road when you've developed a relationship with them.

 

The tails I was looking into are carbon. I have them now but ones cracked and leaks. Here's what I'm working with. It's just a car that gets me to work and back and gets nasty. it's no longer on air.

 

If you can find a $399 carbon fiber hood I say go for it. If the tails are true carbon fiber for $80 and you like the look I say go for those too, it's a decent price for aftermarket tails if you think the quality looks good.
