Default 1986 Accord XL Need Stereo Ideas

My wife and I were just the recipients of an 86 Accord LX. It was my in-laws. My wife is adamant about keeping it stock. It has a crappy Pioneer stereo in it now. She wants me to put in a Honda stereo.

Any good ideas? The thought about putting in the Honda radio that came with it is not a good one. All our cassettes are gone.

Can you guys give me any ideas about what model year Honda radios will fit?

Why would you ever want to go back to stock? Even if it was a 2009 I would recommended getting rid of the stock headunit. I would Imagine it would be very difficult to find a working and good condition stock radio for a 3rd gen. Any single DIN aftermarket radio will fit, as for speaker sizes go to crutchfield.com and enter your car information for all that and more.

She grew up with the car. Has many memories for her. Her folks are dead now. She wants to have the car in a close to as it was when she was a kid.

Well I'm not at all familiar with that generation, but I highly doubt a newer generation radio will fit if that answers your previous question. Your definitely not going to find a new one, you would have to find a used one online or from a junk yard. Your accord is a third generation which is 86-89.
