Default 2003 OEM Radio/Climate to DIN Retro

Well after many many hours and about a year of wasting time to finish it myself in 8 hours, i did it. I turned my OEM radio/climate dash to a DIN opening retaining the look and controls of the OEM dash. Painted mount where the DIN opening was glassed in is painted to match door inserts which i had done at the same time. The center where the volume **** was is going to be a Honda emblem. Just have to find the right one. Here it is.

Is that an after market kit or did you modify the panel yourself?

Made it myself. Started a year and a half ago. Had someone start the circuit board wiring then he went to the army. Came up with different approach and finished it the other day.

That's what i would have done - i like it.

however, i would have recessed the mount so the face was flush with the trim panel, and i would have used the OEM radio brackets to secure the aftermarket HU using the ISO mounts.

Nice work though.

You should work a volt meter display into the old volume **** location.

I was thinking about an iso mount, but when i actually got it into the dash and did the cutting it still barely fit. That extra half inch was definitly needed. Been looking at the volt meters for the center, just hard to find one that i actually like.

that makes sense. i'll be making a single din opening in my dash soon too - course i don't have the challenges you did, I just need to work with an 2DIN opening. I just don't like the black plastic look in the dash.

my issue with volt meters is the size and color. i just ordered one, and it's decently large (but still the smallest i could find). I haven't decided where it should live yet.

really, you'd want to remotely locate three seven-segment LED portions in the circle, with the actual processor IC off to the side. or by disassembling one that can fit.

Its so much better than the Metra kit i had for a while. That was just too cheap looking for being $200 kit. 2Din would have been easier for sure to deal with. What is the sizes of the meter? Inner opening, outer ring depth? I have about a 2" opening to work with but not a whole lot of depth now because of the boards that hold the 2 dials in place.
