I dont think you get an extra compartment with the 7th gen. The climate controls and radio are one unit, so you have to buy an aftermarket trim thing with the climate controls and ability to put a new deck in.

And i highly advise against getting it. I have it and am so dissapointed with it. Looks and feelslike complete trash. The deck i have is a kenwood kvt-something basically a $1200 7in touchscreendvd/mp3/nav monitor sitting in a hunk of junk plastic piece of crap. Theres a guy on v6p.net who is making a custom one out of the stock deck, and it looks sick. Wait maybe its G7a.net :? im not sure anymore. Anyway if you want pics of what my setup looks like pm me after 7pm est, ill be home by then.

Modding the stock HU takes some serious serious bondo work. It is very difficult to pull off and make it look better than the aftermarket kit. I wouldnt really bring it up as a suggestion unless someone is a true craftsman. However I have the kit and while I don't think it is worth the price they ask for, I don't regret my decision. The stock HU is complete crap, and I couldn't stand it. And putting the kit on the bottom is inconvenient in more ways than one, and I think looks bad.

heres the link to the work the guy was doing. Its quality work, but expensive. Honestly if i knew about that guy before i did my system i would have saved up to get him to do it.

He doesn't seem to be interested in selling his work... A project like that isn't worth doing for money. I'm not sure if you really have grasp for the skill involved in doing that. Someone who works with bondo or glass for living can do it relatively easily, but it takes skill and experience to make it look good.

The amount of time that goes into it, and if you make a mistake, you have to fill it and start pretty much all over. I wouldn't ask much less than $1000 to do that, and finish it.

An audio place says with a 185 dollar alpine deck total cost is 400 installed but it gives me a lower compartment which im not a huge fan of. or i could just go with the i pod connector of 100 installed. but i'd kinda like better sound just looking to see.
