Default 8th gen nav install idea.

Well ever since i got my 09 accord, I been thinking about nav install. I think i figured it out, If i can find the right screen.
If you have been in the new accords. The dash has a screen above the climent control. well with the ones with nav that is where it is. The cars with out nav like mine, it shows the radio station and time.
After a person installs a deck that small screen will not work, So i been thinking. tell me if i'm worng.
I just have to find a screen that will fit in that same spot. After that just wire it to the gramin GVN 53.

There we go you will have nav in that spot. And a pimp BUTT double din deck.
I can't do this for a least a year ( DAM WEDDING). In that year i will find the right screen to match it.
Let me know what you all think.

If your talking about custom fabbing a double DIN into the factory HU, if you have to ask it's out of your league. It's not just finding the right size screen... Just get the DANG double DIN kit for the 8th gen, they are less than $50.

You do realize that's more about show than function. For the money and work that goes into a project like that, you can get yourself a real HU. The pioneer's navi is pretty top notch, and it's actually a HU...

No i'm taking about installing a HU. But after i install a hu that small screen would be useless. So stick a screen in there and hook it up to garmin. So i will not have a Big useless screen in there.

And yes i know they sell double din kits. But i'm not trying to custom fab a HU. I'm trying to install a HU and not have a useless screen above the vents. Do you know what spot i'm taking about.
Also i'm not asking for help. I'm telling other people my findings so maybe the want to do it.

Well I'm not at all familiar with the 8th gen, but what your talking about is possible. It will take a lot of craftsmanship and either a lot of talent or experience to look good. What size screen are you talking about?

Not sure I'm at work and i can't go and check the size the spot. If i can find the right size screen. Than i don't even have to cut the housing.

That is a pic of the 8th gen dash with nav. If a person didn't get nav like me the nav screen just shows time and radio info.

Good luck with that but I think it's a lot more difficult and skill requiring than you think, but if you want to give a shot by all means. Anyone could mount a screen in there, but to make it look aesthetically pleasing takes skill. If your already great at cutting, shaping, and bondo work your half way there.
