Yes you are correct about the pink wire. After looking at the manual, it does say reverse input. So it looks like I have everything hook up but I am still getting no view of the backup camera. I have been using the t-dap connector. First I just connected the wires without exposing it. So I figure, I expose the wires a bit and connect the t-dap connector on it. Still no backup camera.
The manufacturer told me everything like you said but not to connect the red wire on the pink wire. They said to leave it expose. It still didn't work. The only thing I can think of is that I might not have it connected to the correct backup light?????
you need to connect pink wire to reverse light +ve.
otherwise, your head unit will not know that you have put the car into reverse.
I hope that you have already removed the CAN bus unit from your car.
if not, remove it, as it is not of the correct type and will interfere with your reverse light wiring.
After watching the PB guy video again. I noticed he used a different wire to connect the trigger to the reverse light and ran it all the way to the head unit. I am not sure if I was to use a new wire, where would I connect it to? I'm going to keep trying and go back over the diagram again. Do I need a 12V or 18V wire?
I still have the can bus on it and it does work. I am able to use my steering wheel controls to skip songs and volume up and down. It just doesn't work when I use my radio. So you think it is messing up my reverse light? If so then I will take it out and see
Thanks!
If CAN Bus connector is working then just cut the reverse trigger wire to disconnect can bus connector from reverse trigger wire.
Then link reverse light signal to the reverse trigger wire of your head unit.
Ok so, I got everything hooked up and running but I can't get the trigger to open on my head unit when I put it in reverse. I changed around the connection and made sure everything was tight. The backup camera works when I press the floating camera app and then I put the car in reverse and it works. But it doesn't automatically come on when I put it in reverse.
The manufacturer said something about the protocol parameter setting and making changes there but nothing seems to work. There are alot of options and I changed them and did alot of trial and errors. Still nothing when I put it in reverse. Any suggestion?
I think that it gets back to the reverse trigger wiring connection.
I think that original reverse trigger wire from the head unit connector (black connector) was connected to a white connector that goes to can bus unit.
do following checks,
1)Turn the key into ignition position (do not start your engine), put the vehicle into reverse and measure the voltage on reverse trigger pin of your head unit. You should get +12v, roughly.
2) keep the key in ignition position and put the car into parking position and measure the voltage on reverse trigger wire you should get 0v.
I don't have a meter to read the voltage yet but will get one. I do have a question with the connection from the camera.
you see how it is hooked up here in this picture. Do you think that will make a difference where that positive (red) wire is connected from? Or do I need to get some wire and have it extend into the positive wire of the reverse light(which is the light blue wire)?
just wondering since the camera does work but not in reverse. By the way, I did cut the pink wire on the head unit because I was using the can bus. Then I connected the red wire on the pink wire from the head unit.
