95 gauge cluster problem
I recently got a 95 accord lx bone stock and love it. The only problem is the speedometer seems to work only when it wants to. Everything else like rpm, gas etc always works but the spedo doesn't. I't either works or jumps up to 20 when i turn the key and stops. Any ideas?

Does the cruise control work when the speedometer is malfunctioning.
If the cruise control DOES work all the time:
It is likely the speedometer motor itself. The same thing was happeneing to my wife's 95 EX before we traded it in. I did lots of research and the answer I kept coming up with was that it was the speedometer itself. You will likely need to remove the cluster and send it to a speedometer repair shop. I never did mine because I did not want to have to remove the entire dash to get the cluster out.
If the cruise control DOES NOT work when the speedometer is not working:
It is likely the VSS - a MUCH easier fix.

Eeegghhhh....if the cruise works all the time it is more than likely the speedometer itself.
You may want to call around town and get quotes on speedometer repair. If no one around town can do it, there are shops you can find on the internet that will fix it for around $100. You have to pull the cluster out yourself though and ship the whole thing to them.
There are also ebay sellers that sell clusters. Many of them will roll the mileage to whatever you want it rolled to (if you want it to reflect the same thing your curent one does.) If you do that, it would be a good idea to take a picture of your old cluster next to the used cluster showing the mileage of both at the time the swap is performed. The ebay cluster will probably be cheaper, but you do run the risk of it not working......

Well it would just be a matter of take the old cluster out and replace with a working cluster. A haynes manual can tell you how to remove the cluster. there are free online manuals in teh DIY section as well.
