Amplifier for '03 Accord EX?
I'd like to retain the stock head unit in my Accord but want more power> I am thinking of adding an aftermarket amp but am not sure if I can get it to work with the factory stereo. It looks like there's a small factory amplifier located underneath the rear deck in this car. Is this correct and can I use the wiring going to this thing to power an aftermarket amp instead?
I would appreciate help from any car audiophiles on this forum. Sorry for all the dumb questions.

Im not too sure about the amp location but you would be better off buying a decent 5 channel aftermarket amp. It would be fairly easy to install and wire up if you have any audio know how. All you would have to do is bypass the stock amp... if there is one in your ride.

I'm pretty sure that the new accord's do not have an OEM amp.... Are you looking to amplify the factory speakers? If you put in an amp then i would definately put in new speakers, or else you will just have a loud shatty sounding stereo....

I can't swear to this but I seem to recall that the OEM 6 speaker- 6 cd changer does have an outboard amp rated @ 120 watts total.
EDIT: I sent a question to Crutchfield concerning the subject and they responded that they have no information regarding an OEM amp.
I have one more source, let me give that a go.
