I'm pretty sure it would be a bad thing. Someone who knows more can correct me if I'm wrong, but your ELD (electrical load detector) detects how much load there is on the circuit and adjusts idle accordingly to keep all the voltages within tolerance. If anything I would find out about getting an ELD specific for the amps you are running, if it's the ELD.

I've moved this to the audio section as I'm going to guess the alt was installed because of a sound system....

KHA will prob have better answers than I do....I think there is a sticky in here about the ELD.

instead of unplugging it, people have taken my bypass to a simpler level and just put a 820 ohm resistor in the ELD harness (see bypass for wire colors to do this with). that puts a constant voltage drop on the PCM so it thinks you're drawing enough ignition voltage to justify the alt being on all of the time. the PCM is looking for a voltage on the sense pin to be around 2VDC or so, that tells it you have load on ignition. with it unplugged it should be 0VDC but it could float around or give the PCM a "hissy-fit".

So all I have to do it cut the wire and add the resistor? Please explain. I'm an idiot! Thanks
