OK. Thats a little better. I was thinking it was hooked into the cigarette lighter!!!

Still, 8 guage is a little small for anything much over 500 watts. If he's drawing a 80 amps (which would be about 600 watts)thru 8 gauge, thats a drop ofalmost 2 volts by the time it gets to the amps! Switching to 4 gauge would be a little over a half volt drop. If he's getting the normal 13.5 volts at the battery, hes getting 11.5 by the time it gets to his amp and the first couple big bass notes and youre in protection mode. Also take into account the voltage loss at the point where the wire from the battery is broken where it taps into the wire for the amps and his amps could easily be getting 10 volts.

Wouldnt be a bad idea to upgrade to a bigger wire running all the way to the battery IMO.
