I've noticed that my mid-range volume is exceptionally low compared to everything else. I'm wondering if there's some normalizer that I don't know about (I already turned off whatever the hell SVLS is).

If not, I probably have a defective speaker and would need to call Honda or something.

Nono, it's just the sucky factory speaker (15W) if you got a 7th gen. 5W if you got a 5th/6th gen.

SVLS is a volume limiting system. Almost all stock radios have an EQ setting with lower midrange .... also, when you turn up the volume, the bass drops out. These are to make stock cr@p sound OK. Without hearing it, I can't really agree that it is only the speakers ..... my approach is gut it and start over with external amps.

So you guys are saying that it's normal for my speakers to suc. That's disconcerting.[:@]

And yeah, I think I have a 7th gen (I'm not up on the generations yet. 08 is 7th gen, I'm assuming).

Oh, and it turns out that what I was calling "SVLS" is actually something called "SVC." I assume that's the same thing, but is it?

Just swap out the front and rear speakers. The difference is night and day. Trust me.

Look up "Honda Accord" on Wikipedia for an enlightening read.

First off - stock always sucks.

Second, yes your CD player is EQ'ing the speakers. Pretty much all OEM systems do this now.

They do this because its cheaper than putting decent speakers in your new car. So rather than do that they EQ the bass up and whatever other crap they "think" sounds good.
