I'm a novice, will my setup work out?

if it is a ported box you need to find out what it is tuned to. then you will need to set you subsonic filter no lower than that. it is a frequency that a box is tuned to.

That power bass amp is good. It will make rated power and is a pretty solid design.

yeah i read your post. i think you missed what i said. your amp needs to be tuned to the frequency of your box by setting the sub sonic filter. not your sub.

Right, below the port tuning frequency, the sub is unloaded and can be damaged from excessive excursion. The subsonic filter will filter out those damaging low frequencies that aren't reproduced anyway.

i will set the subsonic filter to 30 hz. and tune from there. does that sound like a good point to start from? the sub says the ported box should be tuned to 40hz if it's 1.79 cu ft. mine is 1.70 cu ft. the subs free air resonance says 27.7 and it peaks out at 250 hz. the amps subsonic filter ranges 15 to 50 hz. the low pass filter is from 50 to 150 hz.

A smaller box will increase the tuning frequency. 40Hz is probably the right setting. I tend to prefer subs tuned to 30Hz or so.

re audio has a box program on their website that will tell you what your box is tuned to if you put i the dementions. whatever the box is tuned to is what you should set your ssf to. the length and shape of the port can change the frequency.

if you had the sub amp setup that i have right now, what would you do for an enclosure? I'm just going to send the little scosche box i have back. i'm getting the feeling that i wouldn't be doing any justice with that box.
