So I purchased some LED's for my clock and my dash gauges and I put the one in the clock and instead of showing purple or purple-blue like it should it is very dark blue and is pretty much impossible to see at night. Not sure if there is some sort of film inside the clock I can take out to let more light through or if there is a way to fix this. Any help is appreciated before I change all my others and can't see how fast I'm going or where my gas is.

yes, there certainly can be a filter in there. i've been meaning to swap the bulbs for LED's.

i think using a white LED would be a good first step. taking the units apart isn't a big deal except for the instrument cluster which shouldn't be taken apart.

my recollection is the stock bulbs were incandescent with a green cap on the bulb. is that what you replaced?

did you hook up the bulbs by themselves to verify the color?

 

LED's are directional. the color out of the sides can be different than the color out of the front.
