I added a second battery so I upgraded the big three to 1/0 and installed an Isolator.

ran a run of 1/0 to the back for power to the battery.

I also installed a voltage meter to make sure the voltage doesnt drop too low.

My amps are mounted on the back of my box because I have no room else where in the trunk to mount them. So far I have not had any issue with overheating.

you'll want to insulate/tape/heatshrink those isolator connectors, especially the bare copper wiring.

some new battery terminals, zip ties, and split loom would really clean up the wiring in the engine bay

how is the isolator controlled? do you separate the batteries when the ignition is off, and combine when the ignition is on? that is usually preferred so the two batts don't drain themselves sharing current when off - the weaker one will drain the stronger one.

that Deka is awesome.

gonna go back and clean it up a lot once it is all running like it is supposed to be. need to get the HO back in and finish the external regulator install. it needs filler pannels and carpet and stain on the box. I have mixed emotions about putting the tubing on the big three. on one hand I know it is better for the wire on the other I kinda like the way the wire looks. gonna go back and tape the terminals or heat shrink them. I ran out of pos terminals so I took the boot off the negative and used them. just didnt want to put them back on and get anything mixed up.

the isolator is off when the key is off and when the key is in pos 1. it is on in pos two. I tied it into a fuse in the fuse pannel. it draws less than one amp to turn it on so it should be ok.

I agree it is fine to run to the fuse panel, with a fuse tap. That wire should be fused, so any short doesn't damage the fuse box.

we have a mill at work. I think I am going to take your advice KHA and get some block terminals milled for the battery.
