Default Nav dvd help

I've read several posts regarding purchasing DVD updates for the navigation system. I purchased a 2011 Crosstour V6 EXL NAV and as far as I know it has the original DVD still. I would like to upgrade/update it (I think) but seemingly if it's updated to a 2012/2013/2014 etc. version, it would be better and more accurate than the current 2011 version...no? So why would I want to pay a ridiculous price for a 2018 version? Also, I can't seem to find reliable information about "used" NAV DVDs online, to purchase. It's not something I have to do, as really I use my GPS on my phone. It just seems a waste to have the tech in the car and not use it, but also seems a waste to spend so much money on something that is only good for a year...
Any help is appreciated, and hopefully I followed all the rules for posting correctly...

I have bought and sold Nav DVD's on ebay.

There is usually a special offer period for Nav DVD's from Honda/Acura for $99.

I like the convenience of built in Nav, although my simple Garmin does a better job and is easier to update.

good luck
