I must have been insane buying a car, knowing that the face plate was not working properly. Basically what is happening is the LEDS aren't all lighting up and I have no control over anything on the system other than maybe finding a radio station. The volume controls actual control station searching at this time.

I've cleaned the face plate contacts, but it's still doing the same thing. The face plate itself does not look damaged.

Has anyone had any similar problems with this face plate? My determination to get the car outweighed this little problem but now driving without a proper sound system is making me even more bonkers. I was going to put a new sound system in but I did some research on the face plate and the suggested retail price (at the time ) was $230 dollars! I'd like to try to salvage what I can and try all options if I need to replace it.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Help?

This happened to a HU I had on my boat. Water had gotten in the faceplate and it shorted out. Sounds like something is shorting out, could be the HU or just the face plate. Try and see if you know someone with the same radio and try swapping face plates and see if the problems goes away.

Unfortunately I do not know of anyone with the same face plate. I never considered water damage as a possibility but it makes sense.

How would one clean the contacts? I used a weak solution of rubbing alcohol and (of course) afterwards was told that this is a very bad thing to do.
