I reaad through KHA's built thread and drooled the whole freakin time. I was so jealous, if i had the money to do something like that... if only, if only...

Putting a resistor on that sensor is a genious idea. Only, my current amp doesnt draw near enough current to really worry about something like that. Although, once I start running a bigger amp setup, thats some knowledge I could definetly use.

What do you think about those rockford punches I posted above? The two way speakers. On crutchfield they are 120$ but after searching I found the same pair brand new for 55$.

 

I don't as I feel 6x9's only belong in the back of old Pontiacs.

I do not run rear speakers.

Have you thought about upgrading your front speakers instead?

 

you do have a fuse on that power wire within 12" of the battery, right?

the Aura's have NEO magnets - much high quality to be had for the price point.

Yea I have an inline 60A fuse. My dad helped me do this whole built as he has been doing car audio builds since he was in highschool. Those look like some really nice speakers for the price. Im not really stuck on 6x9's I just want that bigger mid range from a bigger cone. Maybe upgradingn the door speakers would be a better idea with those 6.5s you posted. That neo magnet looks pretty sweet. Do they have them in shallow mount? I dont mind making a baffle I would just rather keep the grill on.

 

1) those would fit fine in the front doors

2) you need to explain your goals with the system ie. budget, expected power levels.

3) I personally would not run those in the front, to me those are good rear fill speakers.

4) I only recommend component speakers for the front unless the plan is to not use an amp for the front speakers and just run them from the headunit. If you have no plans on running an amp to the front those would be a good choice.

For headunit power those in the front and the 6x9's in the rear would be a good, clear, budget friendly, pretty loud setup.

 

i agree the Aura linked above would be a great speaker for front and rear. rear speakers give you more overall volume at the sacrifice of overall quality and sound stage. on the flip side, if more volume is desired, more speakers lets you reach that goal with less distortion. in that case, rear speakers can be helpful.

rear 6x9 vs 6.5 - won't hear much of a difference. any low end is lost in the trunk and made up for with the sub.

thanks for the complements. if i wasn't so damn busy at work i would have new door pods for midbass and new kicks for midrange built already.

 

I do plan on running an amp component set-up for my doors down the road eventually. My overall goal with my system is to get loud, very clean and clear mids and highs, and tight bass that tickles your nads. For now, it looks like those 6.5s will work out better than what I have in the back now (one pretty good quality powerbass speaker and one really old pioneer speaker. Both of which are 6.5s) I accidently stuck a drill through the other powerbass speaker when I was screwing it in the baffle. That was a very sad sad time indeed

 

the Aura speakers will work better than other speakers in the sub-$100 category.

Powerbass is decent, a good budget brand.

clarity and volume comes from external amplification with high pass crossovers.
