Default Thoughts on Alpine speakers

I was planning to swap out my stock speakers on my 04 accord with Alpine SPS-600C and SPS-609 speakers and wanted to know if any of you guys experience with their brand. The shop I went to told me is a lot better than stock and the bass will be better. Is the alpine going to give me decent bass? Any help is very much appreciated guys.

Alpine has a decent product for the price.

the bass out of the front speakers will totally depend on their installation. see the door speaker installation sticky in this section for an example of how to properly install front speakers for good midbass reproduction.

if properly installed, those speakers will sound better than stock.

the factory amp will be grossly underpowering the speakers. any distortion you hear is mostly the factory amp. getting an aftermarket 4 channel amp would be a good future investment.

if you want some extra bass, you could just replace the front speakers and get a single 10" for the trunk and small amp, and remove the rear speakers. just a thought.

Thumbs up Hi Member

I agree with Hopes_Alive..cause he knows his stuff..
Over the years I used Alpine speakers and they were good
sounding units hooked up with my Gold Audio Gods Amp.

IMO - xplod is some of the worst car audio on the market. if it's sold in Walmart, it's not worth a lick. you need to listen to some high quality sound systems and expand your horizons my friend.

for the sub $150 mark, nothing is amazing. the Type-S comps steal from the previous Type-R which stole from the previous Type-X. They have a nice cone design. I'm not a fan of their tweeter, but i don't like any tweeter in that price point. I prefer silk domes in the sub $500 price anyway. Alpine has a product that is built to last, with sound that is on par with others in that price point. Granted, Alpine doesn't actually make all their own speakers, instead they rely on Vifa for most of their stuff (which isn't a bad thing). I'll take Vifa over the low end asian stuff.

In the $200 range, the Hybrid Audio Technologies Imagine series coax/component is probably the best speaker in that price point. Amazing midbass and midrange clarity.

Some very good speaker manufacturers are:
Morel, Hertz, Genesis, Hybrid Audio Technologies, Focal, JL Audio, Dynaudio, Scanspeak, etc. Once you break the $800 mark, component speakers start sounding really nice.

Thanks for the advice guys. I think I will probably take Keep_hope_alive's advice and get a 10" sub.

i did a small build in a 2008 Scion xB that had an Oz Audio component set up front and a single Image Dynamics ID10 vented in the rear (no rear speakers). That 10 hammered in that large cabin. It was amazingly balanced and loud. We had an Xtant A4004 and a JL 250/1 for amps, and an Alpine CDA-9851 head... amps and speakers purchased used for under $500.
you can see the build log here:
