I want to bring the shine back to my manifolds but im curious of what you might say.

after some dawl soap for the grime. I'm going to clean my intake manifold first using draino gel and water to eat away the oxidation with a plastic brush or this spray attachment for mixing soap into a hose with one of those telescope hose sprayers then a spray bottle with vinager. I have a oil compressor with a air filter attachment. to dry it.. but should i realy use a non oil compressor? I tried home depot for some lawnaid but they didnt have it so i had to settle for draino.
the draino has acids thaty eat aluminum and have to be counter acted by the vinager so threy don't keep doing damage..

ive heard of brushing with pads and wire wheeling. and dont want to trapp whats there now under the surfes. or get iron in the surfice and having it rust in the next day.


I'd like to stay with the wiping the liquid idea and get some ?aluminum strengthener? any one know of a good one?
if so could i paint over the aluminum strengthener?

I have a 1997 honda accord 2.2l vtec f22b1 stock if that helps with aluminum strength.

 

you can get a replacement manifold that bolts on with fairly little work for cheap. i dont think it is possible to get that " shine " back without seeing rust and bits of it here and there, but it seems like your trying a few different methods and $ starts adding up. just weigh ur options

 

any chemical geeks know what drano does to aluminum? I wonder if it can be used on incredibly dirty aluminum rims too, or anyone ever use "easy-off oven cleaner" on engine?
