paint oxidized
I have a white oxidized spot ,about 4 inch in diameter, on my trunk lid. I tried many types of polish and compound includes 3m,Meguires, griot garage and none of them works. Can someone give me an idea
Meguires #80 Speed Glaze will take care of it but should be used with a DA. By hand and at a local autopart stores will carry Mothers California Gold Pre-Wax Cleaner (phase one) is also good for oxidation and is stated on the bottle. You will need to put some muscle into it for it to work. Are you sure its oxidation?
Is it oxidized paint or clearcoat failure? If the CC is failing there's little you can do. Post a picture or we're all just guessing in the dark. How old is the paint? Original or repaint? Color?

Man, my clear coat started to have issues and oxidization at about 3 years of ownership and I bought the car brand new in Dec. 1997, '98 Accord. And I have thought that I took car of the paint with hand washing and waxing. Dealer cant help, a representative from Honda headquarter rudely claimed that I used harsh wax. Any every couple of weeks I used a razor blade and scrape off some loose clear coat. I have seen other Accords that are doing the same thing but mostly in these colors: green and black.
Since the car looks bad on the outside, I can park anywhere and not worry about anyone messing with it.

noehjuan how are you washing and waxing it? power washer can scratch it off when you use foam it can scrape if it's bad foam and it traps small debris which scratches. If all the honda around the area is losing CC then it could be the dealership doing something wrong or acidic rain...garage kept vs none garage kept. I have a 96 Accord and there is no oxidation and only one small spot of CC failure thanks to my brilliant brother. Two of My friends also bought first batch of 98 accord so it may not be a factory issue.
