Default 07 Accord Manual Transmission

Hi Everyone,

This is my first post, as I just became the very proud owner of an 07 Accord.

I love the car and I bought a manual. I have been noticing though, that my shifter can be very "clicky". Espically going into 2nd gear. It is not a smooth motion and I can feel something click. All the other gears are very smooth.

Has anyone else experianced this, is it a problem?

thanks,

dan

2002 Cr-v does the exact same thing only going into second... its at 80000km now and the clutch and gearbox still work great... I guess its just a mechanical feel... also it could be a "smart shift" transmission, but I'm not sure... basically though, it means that it makes it harder to change gears if the car doesn't think it needs to.

Hope that helps!

It seems that all of the 7th gen 5 speeds have an oddball feel going into second........sometimes. The higher the RPM, the more likely it is to crunch. I cured that by changing to Red Line MTF (check withRed Lineto find out which fluidis right with yours) the first week I bought it. Nary a weird 1-2 shift or crunch since, regardless of the temperature.
I understand that Honda now has a synthetic MTF. It may be installed in your '07 stock or it may not.

Now this is a completely different vehicle...but my M3 has a notchiness going into second gear as well. I have been told it is due to a tight drive line, but, it is common regardless. Apparently it goes away if you switch differential fluid. I beleive royal purple is what they reccommend over on the m3 board, but I havent done that.

It may just be something you have to live with.
