180,000 mi engine and how to keep it running well
The engine on my 96 2.2 5 speed has a bit over 180,000 miles on it. What should be done to keep the engine running smooth other than what has been done for the past 10 years. Thanks

I do not know what has been done for the past 10 years ...........
but make sure oil and filter is changed 3-3.5k miles
tranny fluid. if auto every 15k if manual every 30 k
plugs every 30k miles
valve adjustment ever 30k miles
fuel filter every 30k miles
air filter every 15k miles
coolant every 30k miles
timing belt every 70-80k miles when doing t-belt, replace water pump, cam, crank, balancer shft seals. alt, p/s belts
tire rotation every 7.5k miles
replace all the coolant hoses , radiator, heater and bypass hoses , if it has not been done yet , they are almost 11 years old..
any time you ( shop ) are doing on oil change . make sure to chk all the underneath . cv boots, p/s rack dust boots, ball joints upper and lower. chk how the tires are wearing , oil leaks, coolant leaks , brakes, if something is needed today do not postpone too long to replace it or it might cost more money later
main thing is not to abuse the car,

Along with following DH's expert advice I would treat it twice with Auto-Rx. You can read more on the Auto-Rx site or go to Bobistheoilguy.com and read the hundred or so positive results from those that have used it. There are some before and after pictures of the internals too. I'll begin the treatment in both of our cars @ 50,000 miles.
Here's some pics a BITOG member took of how well the product cleaned his engine:

I have had the car in the family for its entire life. I get any work done at the same dealer of purchase which has a great service department. I have done all the normal repairs and replacements listed below but the honda tech which i know personally said the cv boot and the A-pipe should be replaced but could be held off for a little while. I dont want to wait too long. Also what type of fuel treatment should i use. thanks
