Exclamation 1997 Accord Help

So my friend just bough a 1997 honda accord with about 128,000 miles on it. He didn't even test drive it but we wont go there. Anyway so we go there to get the car and while there taking care of some last minute things I listen to a rattling it sounds like the exhaust manifold. Anyway so on the way back to the house I call him and tell him to turn on his lights he says there on but there are no rear lights on only when he turns a turn signal on or apples the brake lights. I checked the fuses and only one was blown and I replaced that but that didn't help the problem. Second problem is that when we stopped for gas we say steam coming from under the hood so we opened it up and it already has brand new radiator and hoses but it seamed that the fluid or pressure was coming out of the reserve tank? So after putting about a half gallon of water in we continued home. I drove this time and when I first started the car the car took a tad longer to start up and when it did start it felt like it was about to just die. "I am still thinking that that is from the battery being disconnected for so long." The final problem was that the srs light is staying on.

So all that being said how to fix these problems?
Yes I am pretty good at cars so I know what I am doing.

Welcome new member; sorry about the circumstances, but like you say he didn't even test drive it..??
Steaming from the coolant reservoir sounds like a blown headgasket. Have fun...

One piece of good news... I think in 1997 Honda had a warranty on seatbelts & airbags "for the useful life of the car". So fix the headgasket so you can tell the dealer that the car is still useful...

Hmm I think it might be the gasket as well but not sure yet my 03 had a head gasket go as well. Any other info on these problems would be helpful.

Well for once I am very proud of my friend. He not only is getting these things fixed but he is doing the fallowing. New head gasket, new timing belt, spark plugs spark plug wires, fuel filter, and a lot of other stuff as well. It should be a rely nice car after he gets this stuff done.
