Hey guys, I'm currently looking for a new car (my first car actually) and I'm in a bit of a dilema. I have looked up a lot about Accords and VW's in the same price range and I have driven both. I really like the 98-02 accord model though. This was until I found out about the large amount of Transmission problems they have. Now my only question is this, are these transmission problems only limited to Automatic transmissions or manuals also? I would love to get a manual accord in those years but I would only really consider it now if I knew for sure they were an exception of this faulty transmission problem.

Automatics only. No problems whatsoever with manual trans.

 

Yeah just get a 6thgen 4cyl 5spd and you're set. The car also has a lot of modding potential. Check out www.6thgenaccord.com for more info on the 6thgens.

 

manuals are fine and so are the automatics that were replaced after feb of 05 for the most part

 

The replacements seem to fail sooner than the original tranny. 6th gen autos are plagued.
