2003 Accord Top Speed
ORIGINAL: marbro
the only accords that had a governer is i think the first and second gen. No recent accord has a governer and the top speed is defined by the transmission and if you can find a good downgrade. Otherwise you would need a good 200ish hp to actually hit the top speed possible.

but seeing as we went off topic whats the gear ratio on the 2003? that will ultimately tell us what the top speed the transmission can hit if its like the previous generation i think if it doesnt top out at 140 it will be soon after that
ok you guys this is how it is...
the 7th gen accords with the 6 speed will do 147 mph in 5th gear.. it doesent have the steam to pull faster than that in 6th because of the gearing... at 147 in 5th gear it is doing 6260 RPM... that is 10 beyond max hp and when you shift to 6th gear it is below the vtec point so the power is not enough to pull... the 6th gear ratio if you calculate it out the car would hit 203 mph if it would pull to the redline of 6800 rpm...
ive red where sombody modified their cpu in a 03 6 speed v6 and hit 147 on level ground...
also look at the tires... v rated... that means 149 tops in stock form... car makers are required to place tires on the car that can take the top speed of the car.. h is 130 v is 149.. i looked it up...
and it is govern'd at 130.. i had my 04 six speed at 120 with no effort... it just wanted to go faster
the 7th genit will hit 160 but you need to boot the power up a good bit because of the gearing...
Math is king... that is why i know this stuff
