Default 3rd gen engines

Hey, I finally figured out why my free 89 lxi won't run, a piece of the block found its way into the path of the crank shaft!! I am fully aware that the current block is shot, however does anyone know if the carbureuted motor block and internal components are the same? I was surfin around, found a carb. verson for about a fifth of what I'd get a long block for the injected. Yes, all of the manifolds are in decent shape, only the botom end of the motor got attacked, lol

i thought the FI was a 2.0 and the carb was a 1.8, but i might be wrong. if they are the same size, then all your stuff should work on it.

nope, their both the exact same displacement, Just worried that maybe the have slightly different bolt patterns on the manifolds, or some crazy technicality like that. I'll have to spend the day at the junkyard, they have some of both out there, I'll post my findings just in case anyone is looking to do that swap, that's an easy hp gain, 20 horses, and 30 ft/lbs (as if that light friggin car needs it, lol)
