Default '93 Accord automatic + turbo

This is a request from my old man. We've got a '93 Honda Accord that's due for an overhaul and he's been pretty interested in the idea of rebuilding the engine with a turbo, but he also wants to use the automatic if possible.

What we want to know is the (unbiased manual vs automatic opinion) feasibility of building an automatic to handle 250-300 horsepower vs swapping in a 5 speed. I'm doubting a stock Honda automatic would reliably handle that much power, but swapping in a 5 speed will also be a very involved and costly job.

tl;dr, is it worth it to build a Honda automatic to handle a mild/moderate turbo build?

The automatic will take it for a little while, but the manual would definitely outlast it under boost.

You should do a 5 speed and put in an aftermarket clutch for more durability to handle the torque of the new motor, maybe a stage 2?
