not too much of an expert so i really need some help. I have a 94' accord that has been giving me loads of problems. when i turn the car on it almost chokes and violently shakes. i have changed the distributor, the fuel pump relay, the fuel pump itself. i put in new spark plugs i changed the oil. it stopped working completely right after i finished passing a smog test, which was very weird. a friend told me to try to spray carburetor cleaner into the intake to see if it was a fuel pump or distributor problem and the car worked so i assumed it was just another faulty fuel pump i replaced it and now once again its giving me the same problem as before. it seems to choke during start up, the rpm drops and then fluctuates all while shaking. anybody please have any suggestions what i can do?

 

I'd check the fuel filter if your car has one, and there should be a idle troubleshooting guide on either General Help or DYI - I just seen one of Jim's answers for a similar question.
How's the maintenance on the car, new timing belt I hope?

 

Try cleaning the throttle body? EGR ports? There's a DIY on here for the EGR ports.
