Have a 97 Accord VP. It has 100,000 original miles. Have changed engine oil less than 3000 miles regularly. The air filters are also good and have good sparkplugs. However the engine is really sluggish and has no pickup. It cruises easily at 80 mph but when it find gradients or need sudden acceleration it is sluggish. When A/c is engaged the engies is gasping and does'nt move.

It gives decent mileage( I think). It has given 25 in mixed conditions and around 30 mph on highways.

Any idea to improve pickup is appreciated.
(It is completely a stock vehicle).

Stumbling and sluggishness around 1500 - 2500 rpms is a sign of clogged EGR ports and cleaning them could very well solve your problem and improve gas mileage a bit.
