Default 97 Accord sluggish at startup

I have a 97 Accord with about 125,000 miles on it. It's a fourcylinderwith automatic transmission. The last couple of weeks when I have started it up and began moving, the car is extremely sluggish in the lower gears. Feels like is is not getting enough power, and shifting is slow. After 30 seconds or so, full power kicks in and everything is fine. This only happens after the car has been sitting for a while, like overnight or all day at work.

A buddy of mine thinks plugs and wires. Any other ideas?

Thanks in advance.

plugs, wires, needing an oil change, clogged fuel system, trans fluid needs changed, etc...there are a few possibilities.

have a look at the spark plugs, maybe a throttle plate clean.
Scrub out the ring of crud around the throttle plate

remove the intake hose from the engine, the part that it's connected to is called the throttle body, that's what the picture is of....
