Question Accord engine swap.

Honda Accord Sedan LX, year 1999, USA model, 2.3 vtec, automatic transmission. Engine and transmission totally ****ed up.

Since i live in Europe, Albania country, i cant find parts here, and i am thinking to replace the original engine and transmission with one from Volkswagen, Golf 4, 1.9 TDI automatic or manual transmission. Of course with needed modifications.

Anybody can tell me if that is possible? The price is not problem here. The mechanic told me that engine + transmission replacement with needed modifications will cost around 300 dollars.

Thank you.

300bucks 2 swap over to a VW set up...no I think not. More like 10k will be about the right price range.
Why not just swap a h22 in your accord?? You can get the engine and trans for 2k plus your install. Then you will go from your 140hp f23 to a 200hp h22

Maybe in Albania the welding & fabrication that's required will be very inexpensive labor. But I agree if he were in USA it would not be anywhere close to affordable. And the smaller VW engine would struggle with the heavier Accord. Then again, his 1999 Accord is a lot smaller than the USA 1999 Accord - maybe about the same weight as a 1999 Jetta/Golf.

it’s not the welding. It would be wiring headache. VW is totally diff. from Honda. Honda is simple stuff compared to just about any other type of cars

I figured if you know your way around a VW you'll know what stuff to pull along with the engine swap. They're fairly modular too, you just have to be familiar to know what's needed off the donor car. Clearly you can't use the wiring harness into the cabin for the ECU, so that WILL be a piece of work.

Yeah the wiring would definitely be the hardest part. Especially since VWs are a wiring disaster from the factory.

yeah if you know both types of cars then yeah you have the advantage. But I think 300bucks is out of the question and more of a headache than it’s worth. I mean heck some Honda swaps aren’t as easy as ppl seem...Like a K series swap in a 4th or 5th gen accord. It can be done but its cost a good bit of cash and nice BIG headache. I think couple thousand is more like it...with a nice brain thump

I think you guys are right. It will be full of problems if i swap and Golf engine. I am thinking for an h22a JDM engine full package. its about 3000 dollars + transport will be aroung 4000 dollars. this is to much but i think i dont have another choice.

What you think about this engine. It is international ship.
