Default Bad starter???

Sup guys, got a 95 accord ex automatic. When I turn my key to the on position, lights come on as normal, everything normal but when I turn me to start my car, it does one click and doesn't do anything else, I'm worried about a seized engine or if it's my starter? I know the multiple test to do so but I want some insight before so I can save time.

Sometimes it's starts on the first try, some days no problem at all but other it's one or two maybe three attempts and it starts. Also sometime if I turn to fast it doesn't catch and it I go slower it does or maybe when I try a different position ( car was stolen and had a loose ignition but mechanic put it in place). Should I be worried about a seized engine?
Btw, engine doesn't cut out when driving, one it starts it's normal. Seized or bad starter?

Can't be a seized engine because that won't come & go. A working starter with a seized engine will make a heavy CLUNK when it engages the flywheel & tries to spin.

Can I assume that when it doesn't start, there's a click (like a relay clicking) but the starter does not spin the engine?

Even though a mechanic put the ignition switch back, don't rule-out a flaky ignition switch for this problem.

OTOH, if the starter DOES spin the engine yet it doesn't start & run, then we need to go down a different path for diagnosing.

Starter w/ a loud click but no engine turn-over is usually worn-out solenoid.

Agree w/ Jim that it is possible to be a weak ignition switch assy.

It is possible to install new contacts in the 94-97 Accord starters. You will need a 100 w soldering iron to solder contacts. Google for numerous procedures and videos on subject.

Most folks simply install a new, rebuilt, or used starter to repair.

good luck

Maybe try a tune up and when was the last time you used a fuel injector cleaner

Any other electrical type things happening. Lights, radio. That would be an indication of a possible alternator.
