Default buying a 98 2dr accord w/70k for 4,000 questions

It almost sounds too good to be true. It has a custom paint job that isn't complete. The rear bumper and side skirts are the unfinished body parts. I haven't seen it yet but I will on tuesday at the latest. The guy says thats the only problem but I'm very skeptical because it seems a bit too good to be true. It's a EX with the I4. I think it's a 2.3L. I don't know much about hondas but I know they're great cars that are well built and I know honda stands behind them. Unlike thier american counterparts haha. I'm in school for automotive technology begining my second year so I am somewhat mechanically inclined but I have a lot to learn about these engines. I'd like some ideas of good sounding exhaust to install and so on. One thing I can't stand is having a stock exhaust. Who know's a lot about these particular models? please enlighten me! thanks

is it a auto or 5 speed? the auto trans on the gen accord your looking at has mad issues. They always mess up and not work properly. If it's a 5speed that’s not that bad of a deal but it's it’s a auto...look for another honda. B/c mark my words you will have trans issues...Either replacing or rebuilding.

So the plot thickens. It is in fact an automatic. My current car is 6spd and my car before that was 5spd. I was trying to shy away from the manuals for a bit but now I better reassess my options here. Even if I keep the car in stock form with maybe an exhaust it will run into problems? what kind of problems and are they pattern failure? It's almost go time to purchase the car. PLEASE let me know what to look out for. You seem to know a ton about honda's so your the guy I need. If it's not too much to ask please look out for a brother hahaa...thanks man

the trans are just crap from 98-03 accords. They just are known for prob. my in my ex 98 accord I replaced the trans 3 times be4 I said screw it and gave her my h22 swapped ej8 and sold that hunk. Over all the car was good but the trans are crap-ola! Really I would look for another honda...maybe look at the 04+ if you want a auto trans...plus they have the K series engines...much better than the f23 engine
