Actually the chip that hooks up to the IAT sensor does make a little difference. A friend of mine has it and him and the mechanic both said they felt the difference especially at WOT. The only thing about it is that it tricks your IAT sensor telling it that all the incoming air is cold so it uses more fuel constantly making you run rich on fuel. The problem with that is that you will burn out your cat. You can also buy those little resistors at radioshack.

I have informed him of the useless nature of his purchases. luckily he didn't spend a lot of money on the chip or the magnets. I did a little research myself and explained to him that even if the chip(resistor) does make a difference, it is extremely unlikely to up the horsepower more than a small amount, and probably at the cost of lower fuel economy and poor emissions.

I consoled him by fitting some crystal blue headlights. that is where the mods end. lol

thanks for all your comments

As noted, 3 wire chips, the turbonator and fuel magnets are all scams and will not help your brother's car. The chip can only hurt by giving the ECU the wrong ambient temperature reading leading to a bad air fuel mixture. Also, this might give you an extra HP or 2 for a second, but when the O2 picks up the bad mix, it is going to correct it via injector duty timing.
