not true... U'll lose compression and that's the reason we don't have 4" catbacks on our cars...
as for PVC...exhaust gets from 800f to 1300f... not good on PVC im guessing it was a joke

PVC would actually be ok for an intake haha. As long as you slap a good filte ron the end. I've seen one before. It looked horrible, but I'm sure it works just as well as the expensive systems.
Yeah with a 4cyl you may gain a few HP in the mid to high range RPM's with a header, but you will actually LOSE HP and Torque in the low range RPM's. That turns many people (including myself) away from a header.
If you got a V6 though (98-02 model), definitely get headers.

yeah... intake doesn't get hot... a buddy of mine has an acura integra w/ a PVC filter and a mosquito screen on it... once it fell of about 100miles from his home and we put his sister's panties as a filter... it was very funny...
