check eng light 99 accord
New to forum. For a while now the check eng light has been on and I get a P 1457 code. I was told I need to take it somewhere and do the smoke test. They said I need a new egr valve. They told me it sometimes can be cleaned and then it will work and if it comes back on I will need to replace it. It came back on and I did some research and ended up replacing the egr valve and it was unsuccessful.
I looked more and found out that the egr valve would have had a p 1491 code. So I think they were set me up for a big repair job.
I looked under the car to locate the evap control canister and vent shut valve and I discovered a component mounted next to the evap control canister and that has a big crack in the plastic shell. I pointed to it in the attached picture. If any one knows what the part I’m looking at and if it makes since that it being cracked would cause a p 1457 code
