Exclamation Check Engine Light On

Hi Guys. I got a 1998 Honda Accord V6 and the check engine light turned on giving the code p0420. I believe is for the 02 oxygen censor. Does anyone have any tip about this? Thank you.

Check for exhaust leaks (can cause P0420) and perform a "shake" test on catalytic converter. If it rattles, it needs replacement.

Also check briansmobile1 videos on youtube for how to inspect catalytic converter for performance.

There are new bolt-on converters from several sources on Amazon, Ebay for reasonable prices and most folks seems pleased w/ them.

good luck

Thanks guys. It is posible it can be the 02 sensor oxygen that might be gone bad? @TexasHonda & @live2rice

Catalytic converter, exhaust leak, o2 sensor or AF sensor, probably in that order.

The AF sensor should work correctly w/o the heater element once fully warmed so replacing AF sensor may not cure P0420, but there's a chance.

good luck
