RE: Clutch Fail

could've been much worse given the symptoms.... aren't you glad you drive a manual? glad you got if fixed!

yeah. so turns out the steering wheels was off alignment, the oil sensor was leaking, and the master cylinder for the clutch needed to be replaced $800. not too terribly bad
$800 for a master cylinder, leaking oil sensor, and alignment!? Sounds like a rip off to me! You should be able to get the clutch itselfreplaced for that price.

labor....labor...lol

RE: Clutch Fail

There should NOT be that much labor involved in changing those things. An experienced tech can change a master cylinder in under 30 minutes!

RE: Clutch Fail

Aren't master cylinders quite expensive? Not to mention most experienced techs work off flat rate so how fast they can do the job makes no difference...

Genuine Honda clutch mater cyl assembly is $85.38 from Majestic Honda: http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/...ASTER+CYLINDER
I assume changing one is similar to changing a brake master cylinder, which is not too difficult for a fairly inexperienced mechanic such as myself with a helper and maybe somebeer[sm=icon_cheers.gif].

I assumed they were closer to a couple hundred but I don't know since I've never done one...

The alignment and sensor are irrelevant to the clutch problem which is the topic of discussion. Replacing the master cylinder is much less painful than replacing the clutch itself which seemed to b worrying you as a possibility, and not that hard to do yourself if you want to save more$. Smile!
