Default Could it be fuel pump?

Was changing distributor cap and rotor, after finished went to check if it would start, it did fora few seconds but then rpm's fell below 500 and it died. It wouldn't start since. I can't hear the fuel pump as I turn on the ignition, as I always did.How can I check the fuel pump with a multi-meter without taking it out of the tank. I tried checking voltage in the connector that attaches to fuel pump, got readingsin of2 pins out of total of5. But I don't have the pin out, I don't know what those pins are. Any help would be great.
