Default Cylinder Head

I have a 96 accord lx 4cyl and have a question about the cylinder head. When I went to change spark plugs and pulled out the wires, I was greeted with oil in all four cylinders. I pulled off the head and changed the gasket and rings ( i dont think all the rings were put in). I started it up and had smoke coming from the exhaust for a few minutes.

Months later, I notice the same thing. The car doesnt rough or anything. Some one said I may have a warped head...

Any ideas??

thanks!

Clarify what you did... Pulled off the HEAD? Really?
Rings would mean you removed the pistons? Really?
The head gasket is completely unrelated to oil on the top of the spark plugs.

My guess...
You removed the camshaft cover (valve cover) and replaced the valvecover gasket. Along with the ring-seals for the sparkplug tubes.

You have another set of seals (O-rings #19) down lower in the sparkplug tubes. Maybe that's where the oil is leaking. For those, you have to remove the rockers & the camshaft bearing caps.

You are correct. The part I am referring to is the valve cover (and gasket). I feel that all the rings that are included were not installed when I had it replaced (by a backyard mechanic..Ive learned my lesson). I am having this checked out tomorrow by a REAL mechanic!! I really appreciate your quick response and will keep you posted on the outcome.

I think (depending on where you buy the gaskets) it may or may not come with the sparkplug-tube seal rings.

IF those upper tube seals WERE installed, check to see whether they're installed upside-down?
