Default engine=smoked?

alright i havent posted on here in a while but i have a question. my cars been running normally for as long as i can rembember... but i just realized after an oil change.. my car burned up and smoked out 2 quarts out of 4, in only 1700 miles. i never even romp on it anymore... just been driving to school, work, and whatnot. what should i do? motor bebuild? i got quoted 1300 for 13 hours and 1800 for motor components... sounds steep. thats 3 grand. what other options would i have? do i really need to replace 1800 dollars worth of parts or what??

well i don't know what mechanic quoted you that, but they should really tell you what its for, and do tests first.

I would rather just find a used engine for 3-500 and swap that in.

do you have any mechanical experience? can you open the head to see the inside? might be a seal... is it missing coolant too? does it make any noise?
