Default F22

i have a 92 EX. i was just thinking performance wise, could i just swap my cylinder head from a SOHC nto a DOHC from a prelude of the same year? f22 block, F20B F20C or F22B head?

F-series are SOHC (with only a couple unusual exceptions).
F20C & F22C (S-2000 engines) are COMPLETELY incompatible.

Prelude DOHC engines are H-series.

Search "Frankenstein" or "G-series" for H-series head on a F-series block. It's a lot of work & you might be better off just getting an H-series engine from a Prelude.

You can put a H22 head on, but its far harder than just putting it on. There is machining that needs to be done and a lot of parts bought. Probably wouldn't be that much cheaper than just putting in a whole H22.

What's "BETTER"??

B-series are small-displacement high-revving engine. Low torque. I had a fun GSR with B18C1 VTEC engine. 8,000 rpm and it was fun to use every last one. I think it would be a dog with a car as heavy as an Accord.

D-series? Seriously? That's like the small-displacement SOHC version of the B-engine. Comes in Civics before about 2005. You want to upgrade from 140hp to 120??

H-series. Yes. Better because of DOHC & higher revving. Same block architecture as your F, but like Rice says there ARE differences.

Bisimoto makes cams for your engine. Bisimoto has also built F22s that make over 300hp all motor.

F22 is also a pretty good engine to turbo, its stock low compression and steel cylinder walls make it a pretty good candidate. You could easily make 200+whp and 250+wtq just by putting a turbo on and running 8-10psi of boost on a stock block.

ok but to turbo wouldnt i bassically have to replace the pistons, rings, injectors, etc.? or could i leave all that in there. and if i can just leave it there what size could i get?

right now i have to get a cat-bak because my pipe is kinda split from the cat to the middle of the resonator if im not mistaken. found 1 on amazon for 169+ ship

I recommend you buy a good cat-back. If you cheap out on an exhaust, you usually get what you pay for. Spend a few hundred. It's worth it.

You dont have to replace pistons and such to run a turbo. Just dont run more than 7 or 8 psi. F22s have very low compression stock and steel sleeves so it makes them a pretty good turbo candidate.
