Default F23A1

Hello everbody, I just bought a 99 LX five speed. Is this engine worth building, if so i know how to build i am just not sure if the vtec E is worth the build. I was wondering if anyone had ever put an S 2000 cylinder head on another F series engine, or possible custom mount the
S 2000 engine sideways on the accord transaxle and if the F series are anything like the B series i could put my crankshaft on it and stroke the S 2000 engine. Let me know. thanx.

I don't think the S2000 engine swap is possible. From what I've read the engine spins the other way. A bSeries engine would not provide enough torque for the Accord.
The F23 is decent for Turbo building.
If you don't want to go turbo, H22 or F20 are both good for NA.
For the money, turboing the F23 is probably your best option.
You won't ever go too incredibly fast in an accord though. Unless you drop some serious cash.
If you want to go fast for cheap, buy a 5spd mustang and build that.

search the forum for G23, I think it's an H22 head on your f23 motor but I can't recall for certain, there's quite a bit of info on it in here....

now isn't the S 2000 engine the F20? All honda engines rotate the same direction.I might be mistaken with the rear wheeldrive. I didn't mean put a B series in the accord, i meant my friend had a GSR block with a civic head and trans. I am building my integra and since all the piston diameters are the same but the displacement is different what i am doing is puting the LS crank on the GSR block with the Type R cams. Stroker moter. F23 crank in a F20 engine? Thanks for the input.

S2000: 99-03 had a F20C motor
02-up has a F22C1 motor

Honda B, D, F and H motors spin the same direction (opposite everyone else)
A K-series motor spins the other direction (the same as everyone else, non-Honda)

Wikipedia S2000 page
Wikipedia Honda F-engine page

silence .... the bores of the F20 and F23 engines have a 1mm differance with the F23 having the larger bore (86mm). An F22 motor has the same bore though.

Thanks for the info, i wasn't aware the K series went the other direction like other manufactures. So you think it is possible to put the S 2000 engine sideways? The only thing i was wondering about is the mount on the left side. I am in california and swaps have to be precise. So i will have to look up crankshaft diameters to find out if there would be any advantage to the F23 crank in the F20. Thanks again, i might just leave it and build my integra.

The F20C is like the K, it spins the opposite direction of all other honda motors. The F23 crank shaft will not fit. The only motor the F23 crankshaft will fit in is the H22a4. Good luck trying to fit the F20C or F22C motor in your accord and mating a tranny up to it. F22's have an 85mm bore. The F20/22C head will not fit either.

The G23 is using either the H23 non-vtec head or the H22 head.

Looks like from what I've read, the G23 is a very good concept, but it is still pretty "experimental" if you know what I mean. I future Honda tech would be an excellent Guinea Pig!
Have you typed "G23" into the search engine andread about it yet?
