Default H22 swap trying to get inspected

I bought a 2000 accord not knowing that the guy did a motor swap.. It had a check engine light on and when I went to get it scanned for codes it said it was unreadable and the tech said it couldn't be inspected, is there any way I could get this car inspected?

Depends on where you are. Different states have different rules for how that works.

Back tracking some elses "work" can be fun. First are you sure it is a H22 motor, if so do you have any idea of what year the engine it out of.

Did they give you anything to get started on or just the fact that through the DLC there was no connection?

I hope you like electrical/wiring

The 1995 Prelude is OBD-1 so it won't have the same OBD-2 DLC.

"Generally"
For an OBD-2 car (yours is OBD-2 because it's newer than 1996) you are normally not allowed to go backwards in year. Exhaust emissions for 2000 are much tighter than they were for 1995, so the 1995 Prelude engine is a step back to a higher-polluting engine.

Merged your posts.......I didn't realize you had two.

I'd start by looking at the PCM/ECU that is in the car and get the numbers off of it.....we can then see if the ECU is OBD-I or ODB-II.
