I want to get away from the stock F22 non vtec motor. I just can't decide which motor to put in. Any suggestions? Anything helps thanx

 

if you search you will find ton's of info for swapping and pros and cons f both.

IF you have deep pockets go with K series if you are a normal every day joe like most of us. Go with h22

 

Stock for stock they make about the same power(H22A and K24A2). But price is the main difference. A H22 swap will cost you 1-2,000 where as a K24 swap is in the 8-10k range.

The k24 does have more upgrade potential as far as built motors go, but that is even more money. The K24 is also probably more reliable, but you could do the H22 swap 4 or 5 times for the price of a k24.

For me the K24 isnt worth it unless you are building a track only race car. It just doesn't seem worth it when the engine swap is 7 times the value of the car.

 

Ok thanx. I looked up the pricings and I think I'm going to get the H22 block and build it with the forged pistons. I'm new to the import world so all of this is foreign to me. So all I'll need is a performance head. And my buddy was telling me about jasmine headers? Can't find much info on them online.

 

Well you can't just put forged pistons in a H22 since it has FRM sleeves.

The head is where most power can be gained in Honda engines.

Perhaps he was referring to "JASMA" headers. It is a common misconception that "JASMA" is a brand, when it is really an association in Japan that approves exhaust systems. So you will find most exhausts made in Japan come with a "JASMA" emblem on them.

 

Ok so if i re-sleeve the cylinders I should be able to put forged pistons in the block. Thanks for clearing up about the JASMA issue lol. Guess my buddy isn't as knowledgeable as he says hahaha. There's an wrecking yard in sacramento that sells basically everything honda called Redline Performance. I'm going to be picking up a h22 block for around $250. When I get it built I'll start a thread and showing the process of the rebuild and swap. Thanx again

 

Correct if you get it sleeved you'll be good to go with forged pistons.

 

hope you know the cost of sleeving a block is not cheap...just so you know you are going to be spending $800 or so for JUST the sleeves then the machine work to bore out your old 85mm cyls walls and press in the new sleeves. Your looking at ATLEAST $1200 just for the bottom end. Your pistons are gonna run you a min. of $500. At the point you might as well get rods (don't half @$$ the job) Now your looking at another $500. Then you need to take in account for all the bearings your going to need for the bottom end. Another $300 or so. ARP head studs $120. Now that’s not even talking about touching the head. Hope you got some money b/c your plans seem little too farfetched for a everyday person. If you got the money. By all means do it bro!!...but you might want to consider you power goals along with your price budget....that was the whole point of this post
