Default help help 1989 Accord lxi bogging.

89 accord lxi 2 door, 5 speed fuel injection. Bought from brother in law. Problem after problem. Changed plugs and wires, passed smog. Got up to 90 on freeway, got off and every stop it wanted to shut off. So changed distributer cap, rotor, ignition coil, pcv, fuel filter, wires plugs. Now starts good but after driving a couple blocks it starts bogging. Cannot change gears without it wanting to stall. End up driving home in first. Please help. Thank you in advance

Is Check Engine Light On? If yes, get the codes.

Check fuel pressure w/ gauge taped to windshield so you can see pressure when bogging occurs. Low fuel pressure can cause this problem.

Also check exhaust back pressure. A vacuum gauge test using the attached link shows what to look for. BAT Auto Technical-Professional mechanics giving advice-An Educational Site w/ OBD2 Trouble Codes and Technical info & Tool Store.
A restricted exhaust can also cause bogging.

Make sure air filter and intake air duct is clean and unrestricted.

Check engine distributor timing.

good luck
