The f23a1 actually has the right compression for a bolt on turbo but the most you can do with that is make it up to 300hp unless you swap or build a f23 to its max potential.
Ok so here's my thoughts on the f23. First I'm fairly new to Hondas but very familiar with cars. fixing, repairing, upgrading and all that good stuff. Second just do your research on Honda and all the motors that are available. It may surprise you. The f23a import from Japan not the a1 a4 a5 or 7 us models but just the f23a is already sleeved and port and polished and ready for turbo. It can handle up to 430 hp stock. Meaning no internal work, no pistons, no connecting rods, non of that and it can handle it. Yes they are slower than most other Hondas. They are Also a lot heavier and not made for short fast take offs. Now with that being said yes you can absolutely get a killer out of a "f23a" it will definitely take some money and new performance parts but what car doesn't? Also not everyone is trying to take their car to the strip and run it. Some of us would just like to show out in that unsuspecting commuter when the situation calls for it and trust me that single cam 16 valve VTEC 4 f23 will do it. It is made for turbo being port and polished and sleeved from the factory. Also has a 9.3.1. compression ratio I believe. Don't hold me to it is could have that somewhat backwards but lamens terms it has lower compression which allows for more boost. Any car pushing high hp took money and time to build. So build that f23. Doesn't matter what everyone else is driving. If you like it. Build it. Btw I myself I am building an all accord f23a right now. No h22 nothing no motor or tranny swap all f23. She's tore apart right now. Had almost 200,000 miles on the motor. I went to JDM Orlando and got a much newr much cleaner almost new f23a. I'll be done with it this weekend. I'll update then
