HELP deciding on engine swap
Ok people I currently own a 94 accord ex vtec its automatic. Just recently it started doing a real harsh noise and I stopped running it (has been stopped for 2 weeks now) my mechanic said that the crankshaft on it is broken he said I have the option of rebuilding the engine or swapping it out. I am new to all this car stuff but I have decided I want to swap it out for another engine so far the engines I've seen are the f22 and h22 I was wondering which one would suit the car better and if there are any others I should consider? Thanks

The F22B1 will be the simplest and least expensive swap. That is the original engine in your car and has 145 hp. The H22 has been done a lot, but it will be more expensive for the engine and the additional parts needed. That would get you to 200 hp.
There is a H22 swap guide in the DIY section. Search the web as well, because it definitely has been covered.

Yes swapping the stock engine back in place would be the cheapest and easiest.
If you do decide to swap for a h22...make sure you get a h22 trans with it. B/c f22 trans don't like much more power over stock and will fail and you will have to do a trans swap. Also a AUTO h22 will only produce about 180hp not 200hp as the 5speed h22's make and tho ratings are to the crank not the wheels. The h22 swap is pretty straight fwd. Only few things need t be changed nothing crazy. But look up some h22 swap guides and see if it’s worth your time and or money. H22 swap with trans will run about 2k maybe little bit cheaper since your auto not 5speed. Now if you want more power there also is the h23 engine that’s the h22's brother. It just doesn’t have vtec. Makes about 160ish-170hp (crank rating again)
It all depends on your power goals and your price range.

That will definitely give you less of a headache. There are more of those engine available and cost less money.
Check out car-part.com. You can search local junkyards that subscribe to that site for engines by distance, price, etc.
