How to tell if my engine is stock??
I bought a 94 Honda Accord EX sedan today. I really like the car, aside from it being in well kept shape for its age, the engine runs very well, and the vehicle shifts smoothly. This is my first Honda, and I must say -- I am impressed.
The engine currently in the car is a 2.2 VTEC engine. Upon purchase I was told that the engine was swapped out. That the VTEC was taken from a wrecked Honda and put into this one for more power. I've done some reading, and am kinda torn as to whether I am to believe what he says or not.
Now my question is the following: How do I determine if this engine was taken from another vehicle, or if it's stock from when it was originally purchased?
Up until now Subarus and Jeeps where all that I've ever owned or worked on. I'm not the most genius person when it comes to cars, but I can work my way around some things.
(I searched the forum for about a hour, trying to find a post regarding my question, if I missed it please forgive the post, and direct me to that one Thx)

Another thing is the block serial #. I've never heard of anyone being able to find out the full serial# matching for the car, but the first digit indicates the year of the engine.
On the stamped number... F22B1 (for example) is the first line. Serial # is stamped on the second line, the first digit is 1 for the first year that engine was available in a car. 2 for second year, etc. So you have to know what year it was first available.
