that's easy all he has to do is notch the cam or convert the car to 00 with DIS. least hassle would get the whole CL/TL type S driveline and drop it in.

actully it doesnt drop in, if done right. the motor i used, the block is differnt than the old j series, motor mount bolts are bigger to handle the tq. and the ecu was nuts. with the new ecu running can. it sure was/is fun tryen to get all the goodies to work like the stock. and being ez for someone who has a shop, yes, anyone else no. the monts had to be custom by me, the ecu and wires....thats to crazy to sort out. and also, its "fly by wire" kinda cool, but not. it was cheaper to buy the engine and trans with ecu and harness and less bs. a cop would ask me to pop my hood and he would know, exccept that the cove would say acura.

yes the 01-03 CL/TL type S does drop right in and work with some modification to the wiring. the 98-02 accords and CL/TL are definately interchangeable the 04+TL stuff won't work right out of the box. IF you use 04+ parts, then you gotta work at it since the mounts are NOT the same and the engine is 1/2" shorter and the trans is smaller as well.

98-02 accords should only use 01-03 CL/TL parts 98-99 cars

-Redneckdave- did it at H-T and he used CL type S motor and a 6spd from an 03 car along with the trans mounts. he used the factory mounts from the accord but they were too weak so he had some custom ones made.

Nest time you say it doesne't drop right in, please do some research, because yes it does drop right in and the biggest problem is WIRING.

RedneckDave stated the following :

http://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1315550&page=1

"Yeah I used the stock accord mounts, but they did not last and so I have some custom solid mounts that I need to install, but I am not with my car right now so I can't put them in. I did use the CL-S 6 speed mounts for the trans as well. No all the mounting points were fine. Honestly the hardest part was figuring out what to do about wiring.Yeah I used the stock accord mounts, but they did not last and so I have some custom solid mounts that I need to install, but I am not with my car right now so I can't put them in. "yeah you have to use the cl-s ecu and wiring harness and then mate it to the accord harness which is very difficult to say the least"

here is a parts list

Engine. J32A2 If needing a new engine look for a CLs-6 motor (if not see below *)
03 CLs-6 speed manual.
03 CLs-6 Manual Engine Harness. 32110-PGE-A11
03 CLs 6 speed ECU
03 CLs-6 Flywheel 22105-PGE-305
03 CLs-6 Flywheel bolts (Qty 8) 90011-PGE-000
03 CLs-6 Clutch Assembly 22105-PGE-305 (unfortunately right now there arent many options for aftermarket clutches)
03 CLs-6 Rear Engine mount and bracket 50810-S3M-A01, 50827-S3M-A00, BOLT (m12X25) 90166-S3M-A00
03 CLs-6 Rear and Front Engine Dampener and bracket (i would reccomend aftermarket here)
03 CLs-6 Shifter and cables. 54100-S3M-A01, 54310-S3M-A01
03 CLs-6 Starter 31200-PGE-A11 (try to locate used, its expensive)
03 CLs-6 Gauges
03 CLs-6 Hydraulic Clutch lines. 46960-S3M-A01, & 46970-S3M-A01
03 CLs-6 Trans mounts (2 of them) 50806-S3M-A03, 50805-S3M-A03
03 CLs-6 Cup Holder 77230-S3M-A01ZA
03 CLs-6 Parking brake 47105-S3M-A04ZA and to go with it,
Spring 47537-671-670, Nut 47522-594-000, Equalizer pin 47365-538-000, Equalizer 47360-SB2-000

well like i said im using the new 06-07 tl type s trans AND motor. it doesnt drop in, i did it myself. con-grats on a slow *** motorj 32 blocks are differnt from new to old, the new tl/rl motor will not drop in the accord, not to say, but the dis is not in the 98-99 accords! if you used the tl-s mounts, the dont need to be fab.ed that much. dyno @ 325, i snaped 3 motor mounts, i think id know.

that's why I stated 01-03.

07+TL type S motor and trans is alot of un-needed work to get the same benefit. you would be way better off taking that dough and using to get the extra HP out of the 01-03 motor with things like

1. Headers
2. Intake
3. Axle back exhaust
4. Bored TB

you stated "actully it doesnt drop in," after I stated the the CL/TL type S driveline would fit. Youwould know that the CL was only produced from 01-03.and that is why I corrected you. I even mentioned that the 04+ stiff does not drop right in. It is also known that the cam can be notched for the distributor........

IMHO you did a lot of work for nothing trying to get a 07+TL type S motor to work..........as you could have gotten the same results using an oddessy block and the CL/TL type S heads along with some better pistons

I'm not being a *****, I am just setting the information straight as to what drops right in and works.

He got a newer motor, more HP, more TQ, for less than what it would cost to do all that you mentioned above. With what you said he'd have to buy 2 motors, unless he was lucky enough to find those parts seperate to make a complete motor and then have it all assembled and still swap it in.

He can turn around and slap together a turbo kit with the money he saved from having to do all the work that you think he should've done and make twice as much HP/TQ than with the little bolt ons you mentioned.

Yeu: I thought that bolt ons were ideotic! What happened to just blowing an extra 20 grand on a faster car that he doesn't need or necessarily want?

In that discussion, nobody was actually doing anything. Questions were asked and answers were provided. It was simply a discussion before the insults started to fly. Regardless, it's over.
